In honor of poetry month, my 7 year old daughter and I wrote a poem together while we were home sick from school today. We spotted workers from a tree removal company taking down 3 trees in our neighbor’s backyard. The ideas and most words were written by Elina.
The Sad Birds
by Elina Harwood with Krista Senatore
They took the tree
down.
They climbed the tree.
They sawed off the
branches.
The branches fell
on
the
ground.
They tied a rope
around the trunk
and played
tug-of-war
with the tree.
The
tree
fell
down.
The birds
lost
their home.

Wonderful. I particularly like how the words were placed with purpose on the “page.” It really works with the content. Nicely done!
What a great poem! How sad it is to see trees being chopped down.
